The Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) and its partnership with Northumbria University celebrated National Sport Day in collaboration with College of the North Atlantic - Qatar (CNA-Q) with a series of sports-related festivities.
The event was celebrated with various athletic programmes, held from 8am-1pm, including a fun race, gym sessions, tennis and swimming.
The event saw the participation of QFBA faculty, departmental heads, students and their families.
“The celebration further solidified the power of sports in building communities of different cultures and nationalities to further develop the progression of Qatar’s society,” a press statement noted.
The event was attended by Dr Khalid al-Horr, president of QFBA.
“The celebration of Qatar National Sport Day came into fruition as part of QFBA and its partnership with Northumbria University’s corporate social responsibility effort to support young and talented youth in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, and to raise awareness of the importance of sports to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle,” the statement added.
On this occasion, Dr al-Horr said: “Fitness and maintaining an active lifestyle is an integral element of our students and members of QFBA. We are proud to have the capacity to provide a high-level educational and professional training opportunity and also build a well-rounded experience for our students.
“We would also like to thank College of the North Atlantic - Qatar for this partnership and chance to host the celebration of our National Sport Day, in addition to Stenden University Qatar and all the students, faculty and families that made the celebration a success. Our hope is that we begin to understand that sports plays an integral role in our daily lives and can change one’s overall well-being.”
QFBA was established under the auspices of the Qatar Financial Centre Authority to build capacity in and to raise the financial services industry standards and thus support the Qatar National Vision 2030 of creating a modern, knowledge-based economy.
