Upholding the motto ‘Be Active’, the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) yesterday joined the National Sport Day (NSD) celebrations by organising various competitions for its officials, employees and their families.
The celebrations at beach number four at Katara - the Cultural Village marked sporting activities including volleyball, table tennis, tug of war and cycling.  The celebrations also witnessed Kahramaa Beach Volleyball Championship.
The activities were held in co-operation with the Qatar Volleyball Association and the Qatar Table Tennis Association in the presence of Kahramaa president engineer Issa bin Hilal al-Kuwari and other dignitaries.
A statement by Kahramaa said the celebration witnessed good participation of Kahramaa employees, their families and the public who actively took part in various competitions.
The competitions were organised with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of sport and ensuring that employees regularly engage in physical exercises. They came as part of Kahramaa’s efforts to help its employees maintain a healthy lifestyle and reflected the corporation’s social responsibility and commitment to ensure well being of the public and the employees.
For the first time, the celebrations witnessed a power challenge competition featuring truck pulling, walking with heavyweights and rolling giant tyres.
