Qatar Charity (QC) yesterday took part in various sporting activities organised by Qatar University (QU) on the occasion of National Sport Day, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of sport and physical activities in maintaining and improving the overall health and fitness of individuals and societies, and reducing the risk of  many chronic diseases.
QC’s participation in the National Sport Day activities witnessed the attendance and participation of Dr Hassan Rashid al-Derham, president of QU, a large number of students, professors and employees of the university, as well as many officials and employees of Qatar Charity. The Qatar Charity employees participated in activities such as walking, physical exercise and a football match with the university team.  
Dr al-Derham expressed happiness at the participation of QC in the National Sport Day activities, noting that Qatar is keen to see every individual living in the country in good health and fitness, while also praising the humanitarian role Qatar Charity plays throughout the world.
Further, Dr al-Derham expressed pride in QC’s institutional work based on professionalism, and its eagerness to participate in the activities of National Sport Day is an indication of the awareness its employees enjoy, noting many partnerships and joint initiatives between the university and Qatar Charity.
Jassim al-Emadi, director of the Local Development Department, said QC always participates in the activities that Qatar holds annually, including the National Sport Day.
Qatar Charity’s participation in sports activities “contribute to promoting the culture of sports and raising awareness about the importance of physical exercise to build a healthy society”, a statement noted, adding that QC attaches importance to health development as an essential pillar of local development.
