The Shura Council celebrated the country's Sports Day, with the participation of HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud.
The activities started with the gathering of members and employees of the Shura Council in front of the council building after which everyone set out in a march that embodied the lofty goals and meanings of the Amiri decision No. 80 of 2011 which dedicated a national day for practicing sports, giving the importance of sport and its role in the lives of individuals and in the society. 



The Shura Council's celebration ended with a variety of sporting activities in which the council's employees participated.
HE Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud stressed that the country's sports day embodies the importance of sport in the lives of people and in the society. 
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Shura Council ceremony, His Excellency noted that since 2011 when His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued a decision to allocate a sport day for the State, this day has become an occasion for everyone to practice sports of all kinds, and a day to constantly remind them of its importance that made it a culture and a continuous lifestyle as exercise and activity are necessary for a healthy life.
HE the Speaker of the Shura Council said that everyone should practice sport on a daily basis as possible, pointing out that the importance of sporting day comes from being a tool to encourage and stimulate physical activity and exercise, because it has many benefits for all - individuals, societies and countries.
His Excellency extended his thanks to n His Highness the Amir for issuing the decision to allocate a Sport Day for the State, which confirms His Highness's interest in sport and his great support for it, and the necessity of exercising it as it is important for human life, which reflects positively on the citizen and resident and the state in general.
HE the Speaker of the Shura Council pointed to many and modern sporting facilities that Qatar is constantly constructing, including the World Cup 2022 facilities, adding that they all are within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030 and its focus on human development.
His Excellency explained that some of these facilities were established in a way that allows them to be used for other purposes such as hospitals or schools after the World Cup championship ends in Qatar, while some stadium equipment will be provided as assistance from the State of Qatar to other countries in need of such assistance in the sport field.
