HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud stressed that Arab position at all levels - government, parliament and people - totally rejects the so-called 'Deal of the Century'.
The US peace plan, known as the 'Deal of the Century', announced last month, confiscates the Palestinian people's rights, relinquishes the right of the return of Palestinians and gives all of Jerusalem to Israel.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of his participation in the 30th extraordinary conference of Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIU) in Amman, Jordan, HE al-Mahmoud said that the Deal of the Century was rejected because it does not meet the basic requirements of the Palestinian people, pointing to the united Arab position regarding the Palestinian cause as an agreement among all on the establishment of two states living side by side in peace.
He added that there will be no solution to peace without establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, stressing that this is the clear and consistent Arab position.
HE al-Mahmoud stressed that Qatar, under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, has a clear stance regarding the Palestinian cause, which is that Qatar stands with the Palestinian people, with the rights of the Palestinian people, and with any solution to peace, provided that it fulfils the basic conditions for the establishment of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier, addressing the AIU conference, HE al-Mahmoud renewed the position of Qatar and the Qatari people led by His Highness the Amir that supported the rights of the Palestinians and all peace efforts within the framework of international legitimacy.
