A zoo is among the major attractions at Al Khor Family Park, set to reopen for the public around the middle of this month after a closure for renovation and upgrade that lasted nearly three months.
In the zoo, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) has housed a good number of animals such as the rhinoceros, elephant, giraffe, lions, crocodiles in addition to some types of monkeys, birds, and oryx.

The park has become much better after the renovation works, says Abdullah Maqlad al-Muraikhi, member, Central Municipal Council

There is also a spacious kids' play area with new games and a train, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported Friday. The upgraded park includes more coffee shops, restaurants, toilets and other facilities and services for the convenience of the visitors.
The overall new design of the park, spread across 240,000sq m, is considered very interesting as it gives the impression of a small forest for visitors.
