Qatar’s journey toward hosting one of the world’s greatest sporting events will be placed in the spotlight at Qatar Foundation next week – when the man who leads the organisation tasked with delivering the Middle East’s first World Cup becomes the latest guest of the Education City Speaker Series.

In a public talk at Qatar National Library on February 10, Hassan al-Thawadi, secretary general of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), will speak about the progress that Qatar has made and the next steps that will be taken as the nation prepares to stage the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as well as how its positive impact on the country will last long after the final ball is kicked.

With 33 months to go before the tournament kicks off, al-Thawadi will also talk about the role that innovation is playing in delivering the global sporting showpiece - and how it will be the most sustainable World Cup ever.

The moderated discussion on the eve of Qatar’s National Sport Day – is being held with the support of the SC. It is the latest edition of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Education City Speaker Series, a platform for experts and thought-leaders from across a range of fields to give their insights and perspectives on key topics, themes, and trends.
