Mubarak Yousuf al-Rumaihi clinched the Big Tour title during the 7th round of the Longines Qatar Equestrian Tour Hathab yesterday. At the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, al-Rumaihi put in a flawless ride astride his 12-year-old gelding Casal Des Forets as the duo negotiated the 145 cm class with ease.
While they were not the fastest on the day, they did not commit any faults, coming home in 35.81 and 44.02 seconds in the two rounds. Al-Rumaihi walked away with QR8,750 for his victory
Khalid Mohamed al-Emadi came second with his 10-year-old gelding Fiji. The pair galloped around the course comfortably and looked set for victory but a penalty of four seconds for a fault in the second round forced them to settle for second place. Ghanim Nasser al-Qadi took the last podium spot with 10-year-old gelding Sydney, with the duo also penalised four seconds for a fault. Meanwhile in the Open Class, Abdullah Ali al-Ajeil emerged victorious with nine-year-old mare La Corona 10.  Mohamed Nasser al-Qadi finished second with Ferrari PH, followed by Sheikha Fatima Jabor al-Thani, who was astride Eddie. In the Future Riders 100 cm class, Hussain Ibrahim Shamiyeh topped the timesheet with Zenit 35 in  64.85 secs. Hamyan Khalifa al-Kowari was second with Outline De Beaufour in 65.35 secs, while Lolwa Ali Atat and Animo’s Boy Van De Dennehoeve timed 64.5 secs for third place. The Future Riders 85 cm class title went to Ahmed Jassim al-Suwaidi and Kantje’s Estefana, with the pair registering a fastest time of 64.74 secs. They were followed by Haya Khalid al-Hitmi (Sita) and Jassim Adel al-Saegh (Joly’s Arno).
