Doha Festival City (DHFC) has announced a host of activities in celebration of Qatar National Sport Day this month.

Shoppers and visitors will enjoy a "fun-packed month of sports and fitness activities with family and friends, with something for all ages and skills, both indoor and outdoors", it has said in a statement.

Festival City’s outdoor track will witness running and cycling marathons for adults and children on both Fridays and Saturdays throughout the month from 8am to 12noon and on National Sport Day, February 11. Visitors can also enjoy a brisk walk or run at any time they like with the outdoor track being accessible 24/7.

The outdoor track is "professionally built to suit runners and cyclists with variant skills, ensuring that they get the best out of their exercise time and enjoy their experience on the track".

A Sports for All Zone will be set up on the 'Bird Island' located in the Angry Birds World (outdoor), featuring quick health check-ups daily throughout the month of February from 4pm to 10pm, except on National Sport Day when the check-ups will take place from 8am to 10pm.

More fun awaits everyone in the theme parks atrium at the Kids Sports Activity area, also everyday, at the same times.

Game lovers can enjoy, for free, an "exhilarating experience" in the Xbox and Computer stations or sign up for a life-like car race on the F1 racer simulator in Viturocity on weekdays, during the month of February, from 12noon to 5pm, the statement notes.

More activities will take place across DHFC on National Sport Day, February 11. An Obstacle Course in the Angry Birds World (outdoor), City Studio, from 8am to 1pm, will help all shoppers experiment and enhance their mental and physical stamina, while Snow Dunes will have an Open Day for all Festival City visitors from 11am to 4pm.

Also, Virtuocity will open up its Virtual Reality rooms for an "unparalleled game experience" in celebration of the day from 1pm to 5pm.

For the CrossFit community and fans in Qatar, DHFC will host the Doha Festival City CrossFit Championship 2020, sponsored by Adidas, on February 28 in collaboration with CrossFit Oryx, from 9am to 5pm.

Moreover, Doha Festival City retailers are also offering many promotions and discounts, while some are hosting special activities during the month, the statement adds.

Technogym will organise a range of sports activities for visitors and shoppers, such as a sport equipment display at the Centre Court on February 1, with a trainer explaining the use and benefits of each gym equipment and the best way to use it. On Mondays, from 9am to 10am, and Wednesdays, from 2pm to 5pm, the store will be hosting a variety of yoga classes or sessions on healthy food habits, detox, ways to enhance exercise and make the best out of it.

Oysho will be welcoming customers for "super comfy" yoga and meditation classes.

Robert Hall, general manager of DHFC, said: “Doha Festival City is taking sports activations to a whole new level this year. In collaboration with our retailers and entertainment partners, there will be something daily for every family member, making Festival City truly the one and only place to be for entertainment and sport during February.

“Sports is an important component of Qatar National Vision 2030, and that’s why we have always been supportive of sports initiatives across the country. I look forward to welcoming everyone at Festival City this month to enjoy these memorable times with us.”

With over 420 retail outlets and 100 food and dining options, Doha Festival City "is the number one choice for everyone to enjoy the events and offerings of the sports month", the statement adds.
