Qatar signed an agreement with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) on the collection and exchange of information on civil aviation safety in accordance with the EU Ramp Inspection Programme.
The agreement was signed by HE the Chairman of Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Abdulla bin Nasser Turki al-Subaey and EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky, in the presence of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti at the ministry on Tuesday.
Under the agreement, the CAA is joining the EU Ramp Inspection Programme. The agreement also boosts co-operation and exchange of information between CAA and EASA, in addition to possible exchange of the Programme database between the two sides.
The agreement is of great importance in enhancing co-operation with international organisations with extensive experience in aviation safety, thereby helping develop Qatar's civil aviation industry. Qatar is a pioneer in civil aviation safety and the first to have scored 91.16% in the overall audit conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) on all aspects of air safety in its civil aviation system.
Following the signing ceremony, the minister had a meeting with Ky during which the two officials reviewed means of further enhancing co-operation with the agency, latest developments relating to civil aviation safety in the region and best practices for maintaining environmental integrity.
HE Al Subaey and the delegation accompanying the EASA senior official were also present at the meeting.
