Qatar is an important destination for fashion and art events, and that Qatari businessmen are making “remarkable progress” in terms of creative ideas in business, according to Princess Beatrice of Orleans, who met with Qatar Chamber officials on Tuesday.

Princess Beatrice made the statement during a meeting in Doha with Qatar Chamber board member Ibtihaj al-Ahmadani in the presence of Spanish ambassador to Qatar, Belen Alfaro.

The princess underscored the importance of co-operation between the Qatari and Spanish private sectors in different fields, as well as joint activities held in Doha and Madrid.

The meeting also touched on trade and economic ties between both countries and preparation for holding fashion events, as well as joint projects for businesswomen of both countries.

Al-Ahmadani said the meeting also stressed the importance of the education of Qatari women and creating opportunities for them in all fields, as well as the passing of legislation and laws that uphold women’s rights.

Al-Ahmadani noted that there are success models for Qatari women regionally and globally. On the field of entrepreneurship and economics, she said Qatari businesswomen have proven their ability to manage and excel in the business community. She said that many distinctive brands established by Qatari women are available in the Qatari market.

She also called for the enhancement of co-operation with the Spanish private sector and holding joint activities that bring the two sides together to discuss partnerships and establish joint initiatives that support the economy of the two friendly countries.

Al-Ahmadani is very active in promoting business opportunities for Qatari women, especially in the past year. In October 2019, al-Ahmadani inaugurated the 16th edition of the Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition held in Doha. The exhibition was highlighted by fashion shows featuring the latest creations of local and international designers, as well as a number of panel discussions.

She also led the opening of the first edition of the International Perfumes and Cosmetics Exhibition, organised by Kuwait International Fair Company (KIFC), which kicked-off in Doha in November 2019, offering a wide range of perfumes and cosmetics from various brands.

Al-Ahmadani said the expo provided a good opportunity for Qatari entrepreneurs to meet their Kuwaiti counterparts and discuss ways to forge partnerships in the perfume and cosmetic industry. She noted that the private sectors in Qatar and Kuwait are continuously collaborating to look for investment opportunities as she vouched for the support of Qatar Chamber for such exhibitions.
