Katara — The Cultural Village Foundation will host the 6th General Assembly conference of the Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDN), chaired by Qatar and participated in by nine other countries, on January 20-22.
Turkey, South Korea, Hungary, Taiwan, Nigeria, Singapore, Mexico, Mozambique, and Philippines are the participants. Qatar is chairing the event through Katara.
GPDN secretary-general Darwish Ahmed, at a press conference yesterday, expressed his confidence that the general assembly conference will witness an exceptional launch considering the important and rich discussions in many fields proposed during the event.
“Katara prepared many significant cultural projects which will help to support the role of the network in spreading knowledge, exchange of experiences and building bridges of efficient dialogue,” he explained.
The official also pointed out that Katara adapted the special strategy by creating an e-portal to link members of the GPDN and presenting common services based on high standards.
Ahmed also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the creation of the international public diplomacy in Qatar.
GPDN deputy secretary-general Dr Khaled Hamad Aba Zamat said: “The strong relation between Qatar University and Katara is reflected through the co-operation on many occasions including the Global Public Diplomacy Network conference which will be attended by the vice president of the Bosnia and Herzegovina and international experts”.
Thamer al-Qathi, IT department manager, described that the hosting of the GPDN event comes in parallel with the organising of social media workshops by Katara for youth.
“The workshops aim to bring out the voice of the youth through the media and their opinion about public diplomacy, in addition to the launching of the new website of the Global Public Diplomacy Network”.
