*HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani holds talks with Iraqi leaders

Iraq's Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi met on Wednesday with HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, who is currently visiting Baghdad.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, latest developments in the region, and ways to maintain security and stability in the area.

Iraqi President Dr Barham Salih also met with HE Sheikh Mohamed.

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the president and the wishes to the Iraqi people of further progress and prosperity.

The Iraqi president entrusted HE Sheikh Mohamed with his greetings to the Amir, wishing him good health and happiness, and the Qatari people continued progress, development and prosperity.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations, developments on the regional scene, and ways to de-escalate and maintain the security and stability of the region.

In a separate meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Karim.

The meeting dealt with bilateral relations, the latest regional developments, and ways to pursue de-escalation and maintain the region's security and stability.

At a joint press conference that followed the meeting, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs called on all countries to work towards de-escalation in the region, noting the increased tensions.

He said that the visit to Baghdad came to discuss with the Iraqi leadership the latest developments and stress the importance of de-escalation and distancing Iraq from any political struggles and escalations in the region.

HE Sheikh Mohamed said Qatar is working with a group of friendly nations that hope to avoid escalation in the region, stressing the support of Qatar to the unity and sovereignty of Iraq and its people.

Qatar's foreign minister praised Iraq's efforts in strengthening ties with Arab and neighbouring countries, adding that "Qatar seeks stability in Iraq so that the country can proceed towards growth, confirming that Qatar will continue to contribute to the growth and prosperity of Iraq".

The Iraqi foreign minister described the visit of the Qatari foreign minister as strategic and important, noting that both sides stressed in the talks on the importance of de-escalation of tensions in the region.

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also held talks with the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohamed al-Halbousi.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations, regional developments, and ways to maintain calm, security and stability in the region.
