Qatar Charity (QC) has handed over 45 glucose meters to the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), to support people with diabetes who are unable to purchase such medical devices.
The glucose meters provided by QC came as part of its responsibility towards society, with the aim of enabling people with diabetes to maintain blood sugar level to live a normal and productive life in a healthy society, it stressed.
In a press statement on the sidelines of receiving medical devices, QDA executive director Dr Abdullah al-Hamaq expressed happiness at this generous contribution from Qatar Charity to help needy people with diabetes.
“Qatar Charity is always extremely skillful at implementing charitable and humanitarian initiatives internationally,” said al-Hamaq, thanking QC for the support.
“These devices will actually contribute to making a difference in the lives of people with diabetes and those at risk of it,” al-Hamaq added, noting that workers with diabetes are among those most in need of glucose meters, as they cannot afford these medical devices along with their accessories on a monthly basis.
He also hoped for continuous co-operation to contribute to improving the lives of the largest possible number of people with diabetes or at risk of it.
Farid Siddiqui, head of projects in the Local Development Department of QC, said: “We are pleased to contribute to supporting the Qatar Diabetes Association to provide the best health services to people.”
He also emphasised the importance of Qatar Charity’s participation in such noble humanitarian initiatives, which falls within its responsibility towards society.
