W Doha Hotel & Residences has announced a new partnership with Google to launch the first Google Assistant interpreter mode hotel pilot in Qatar.
W Doha Hotel has implemented a series of “hospitality industry firsts in the past years, and this partnership is part of W Doha’s mission to innovate the hotel experience and to wow its guests from their first interaction with the hotel and the staff”, the hotel said in a press statement.
“W Doha is the first hotel in Qatar to offer guests the Google Assistant’s real-time translation feature interpreter mode, which is set to eliminate
language or communication barriers. Interpreter mode helps guests translate conversations in 29 languages so that they can better connect with hotel staff to get the most out of their W Doha experience,” the statement notes.
The hotel industry is a prime market for live translation capabilities as people from around the world come together and may experience language and communication barriers. At W Doha, interpreter mode is being piloted at the concierge and welcome desks to offer an “enhanced and seamless hotel experience and to ensure that guests are able to communicate their needs in their preferred language so that nothing is lost in translation”.
Technology is meant to break barriers and enhance the meaningful human connections that are fundamental to the hospitality industry, and W Doha “continues to make strides to ensure that its guests are at the forefront”.
Wassim Daaje, general manager of W Doha, said: “Qatar has become an extremely popular destination and continues to attract thousands of visitors from around the globe with its international sporting and cultural events. This partnership is in line with our mission to continue supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 by offering the best services in the tourism sector.
“We’re also a key player in supporting the country’s great efforts to position itself as a sports hub by offering the best hospitality and catering services to some of the world’s biggest sporting events. We are proud of this exciting collaboration with the Google Assistant to use interpreter mode to help cater to Qatar’s guests and visitors no matter where they come from, or what language they speak.”
Guests and visitors can now enjoy the new service for themselves at the concierge and welcome desks. “Innovation has been central to the W brand since its inception and this partnership further solidifies W Doha’s commitment towards introducing meaningful innovations to connect and interact with guests and visitors to enable them to enjoy whatever and whenever they want during their stay at the W Doha hotel,” the statement adds.
