The second edition of Katara International Amber Exhibition is set to conclude Saturday after receiving a large number of visitors, who have enjoyed the event and expressed their appreciation for the good organisation and diversity of exhibits.
A considerable number of exhibitors from different countries are participating in the event that has built an excellent reputation from its debut edition last year. The exhibition is taking place at Building 12 in Katara. The exhibition has the potential to make Doha a hot destination for amber trade and a hub for such business in the region.

Dr Ali Saleh al-Najadah, associate professor and member of Expo965 team for culture and handicraft exhibitions, and also a hand weaver and loom designer in Kuwait, thanked Katara for organising such a high-level event that revives the industry and creates a new hub for amber trade in the region.
He said that amber as a material can be used to produce many artifacts, beads, rosaries and carvings with prices depending on the quality of the material and the craftsmanship of each piece. He said that Expo965 team has a good number of craftsmen who can shape the materials according to the demand.
Rayzard Kulczynski, a Switzerland-based Polish expert in the field from Amber-Gallery Poland, stressed that the exhibition has placed Doha in the global spotlight as a very convenient place for business, sought after by the various suppliers in amber trade.
"Customers in Doha mostly focus on prayer beads made from amber," he observed while adding that the exhibition is ideal to attract new customers, display various types of artifacts and establish positive business relations that could endure beyond its duration.
Serji Rabo from Lithuania, who also participated in the debut event last year, considers the event as an excellent opportunity to open new markets in the region. He pointed out that his company manufactures a wide range of beads from high-quality natural amber.
Armands from Solving Amber Problems (armajet) stressed amber could be sold as carved products or raw material as well, with the price starting from $3 per gram for the lowest quality and goes up according to the rarity and source. Saleh Abdulrazak al-Ishaq, an exhibitor from Qatar, stressed that the event is an good opportunity to exchange experiences among stakeholders from around the world.
Galyna Synikha from Ukraine hoped to introduce to the Qatari market her special products and designs of amber that focus on luxury interior designs of houses and hotels. She described the turnout at the event as good.
Beram from Turkey, displayed a good number of accessories, bracelets, earrings and necklaces decorated with amber besides the beads. He hoped that the event would expand further for its next edition due to its growing reputation. The exhibition also features a good number of craftsmen and workshops in addition to a good display of different varieties of raw amber.
