The Cabinet's regular meeting, presided over by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani expressed concern over the current developments taking place in the region, stressing the need to raise the voice of reason and wisdom, reduce tension, stop escalation and ensure regional security and stability.
Following the meeting, which was held at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi stated that the Cabinet called for pursuing peaceful ways to resolve differences and praised the role of all regional and international parties seeking to defuse the crisis and urged the rest of countries and the international community to deal responsibly towards the people of the region.
The Cabinet then considered the topics listed on its agenda as follows:
The Cabinet approved a draft Cabinet decision amending the organisation of certain administrative units that make up the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and defining its terms of reference.
The Cabinet also approved draft decision of the Minister of Transport and Communications to extend the time limit for regularisation of the status of those subjected to the provisions of Law No (8) of 2019 on the regulation of road transport, and the provisions of Law No (9) of 2019 on road transport of hazardous substances.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet reviewed the report of the Planning and Statistics Authority regarding the implementation of the proposed solutions to address the imbalance in the demographics, and the views of the Standing Committee for Public Supervision and the Follow-Up of the Implementation of National Development Strategies in this regard, and took the appropriate decision.
The Cabinet reviewed the letter of HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs on the outcome of the study of the recommendation of the National Human Rights Committee on the accession of the State of Qatar to the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture.
The Cabinet also reviewed the first report on the results of the work of the Study Committee of the legislation in force in Qatar and its suitability with the provisions of the International Covenant On Civil And Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
The Cabinet reviewed the report of the Appeals Committee of Qatar Financial Markets Authority for the period from January to June, 2019.
The Appeals Committee, established in Qatar Financial Markets Authority and chaired by one of the presidents of the Appeals Court and includes the membership of two Appeals Court judges and two experts in the field of securities dealings, is competent to rule on grievances from the penal decisions issued by the Authority.
The Cabinet reviewed the outcome of the second session of the Joint Trade Committee between the State of Qatar and Malaysia.
The Cabinet reviewed the outcome of the fifth session of the Qatar-Korea High-Level Strategic Committee.
The Cabinet reviewed the outcome of the second session of the Qatari-Chinese Joint Committee for Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation.
