Katara - The Cultural Village will participate in the 30th Doha International Book Fair, to be held at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre from Thursday to January 18. Katara will be one of the 335 Arab and international participants in the fair, according to a statement.
While announcing the participation, Khaled al-Muhannadi, head of Katara Publishing House, said the establishment will put around 150 books on display at the fair. These include novels, anthology of poems, critical and linguistic studies, biographies, translations and works on Qatar tradition, history, marine heritage, popular crafts and traditional Qatari dhows.
Katara Publishing House is participating for the consecutive third time in the fair which is considered as one of the largest in the Arab world. He explained that the Katara Publishing House is one of the cultural projects by Katara administration and aimed at providing a local and international platform to give a boost to literary and cultural production.
“Katara Publishing House also contributes to the efforts meant to improve the level of interest in the Arabic novel, studies and cultural research in order to enhance knowledge about Arab identity and cultural heritage of Arabic and Islamic world. These are achieved through encouraging writers, publishing their works and presenting a wide variety of publications,” he said.
Al-Muhannadi also praised the efforts, being initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in making the Doha Book Fair a favourite destination for audiences from inside and outside Qatar through innovative ideas that make each edition distinct.
