*Mahaseel Market to run from Thursday to Saturday until March 31
The fourth edition of Mahaseel Festival at Katara will come to an end Saturday after offering visitors an opportunity to buy fresh local products and enjoy entertainment activities.
The Festival has been witnessing a huge turnout of local and foreign visitors to buy local products, according to a statement from Katara. The current edition has a special corner for stalls showcasing local agricultural products and cuisine.
A wide variety of flowers and ornamental plants were also among the attractions at the annual event taking place at Katara’s southern area (opposite St Regis Doha). Mahaseel Festival is a part of Katara’s initiatives to achieve the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 in attaining food security and self-sufficiency in farming and production. It is also aimed at helping Qatari farmers market their products and share experiences and expertise.
This edition is attended by 34 pavilions run by national companies functioning in the farming and food production sectors. Out of the total participants, 24 are local farms engaged in producing vegetables, eggs, honey and dates, three companies are in dairy and juices production, three others are eggs and poultry producers while the remaining six are farms specialised in the production of flowers and ornamental plants.
Vegetables are sold after cleaning and packing by a special team under the supervision of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, which also ensures the vegetables are free from chemical fertilisers.
After Saturday, the Mahaseel Market will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until March 31.
