Qatar University Health ( QU-Health) hosted Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RSCI) in its campus to discuss opportunities of collaborations.
RCSI is a world leader in health education, training and research and ranked among top 250 world universities. RSCI delegation started their visit to Qatar with a tour to Aspire Zone, where they met leaders from Aspire Academy and Aspetar. They discussed mutual collaboration and expressed their admiration of the capabilities and facilities available.
QU Health, led by Dr Egon Toft- vice president for Medical and Health Sciences, Dr Feras Alali- director of research and graduate studies, Dr Asmaa al-Thani- dean of College of Health Sciences, Dr Mohamed Diab- dean of College of Pharmacy, and the associate and assistant deans for the three colleges (College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy and College of Health Sciences) welcomed the delegation.
RSCI delegation presented the education and research capabilities and outcomes of Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences, Schools of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, Physiotherapy, Nursing & Midwifery, Postgraduate Studies and the Institute of Leadership in Ireland.
The visitors had the chance to meet leaders from QU Research and Graduate Studies Office, Dr Mariam al-Maadeed, vice president for Research and Graduate Studies Office, Dr Aiman Erbad, director, Research Planning and Development Department, Ahmed Elzatahry, dean of Graduate Studies, and Dr Abdelbary Elhissi, manager, Research Excellence, Research Planning and Development Department. They discussed mutual research interest and opportunities for MSc and PhD Dual or Joint Doctoral Degrees with RCSI.
Dr Alali said. “We cherish this opportunity to strengthen ties with a worthy partner and world leader in health education and research. We have agreed on several action plan items that will provide our graduate students with more options.”
“We were delighted to meet with the QU academics to discuss potential synergies in the training and support of postgraduate scholars. We were enormously impressed by their impressive facilities, their dedicated staff and by the range and scope of current research at QU and allied researchers,” Prof Niamh Moran, head of RCSI School of Postgraduate Studies, said.
