Souq Waqif Spring Festival continues to attract more visitors, the colourful performances of the participating folk troupes being the main attraction. The festival, hosted by the Organising Committee of the Private Engineering Office, will continue until January 4.

Local Arabic daily 'Arrayah' reported Monday that the folk troupes from Oman, Jordan, and Tunisia gave a number of performances that entertained and engaged the audience.
In addition, there are shows by the Russian circus, and other various acrobatics and performances. Speaking to the daily, a number of Qataris stressed that they enjoyed the heritage shows and performances presented by the different participating troupes.
Salem Mohamed al-Salem, director of Souq Waqif said: "Our aim is to make people happy and spread joy among families and children, so we work to introduce new things every year."
Ali Ahmed al-Darwish, a visitor, said that he enjoyed the performances of the folk troupes on the corridors of the Souq. He also expressed his hopes to see some Qatari folk troupes performing at the upcoming festivals. He pointed out that with the current excellent weather conditions, people flock to enjoy the open air shows, especially since the festival includes different shows that appeal to all categories and age groups.
Badr al-Fayhani, another visitor, said that he would like to see more folk troupes from different countries. Besides, such festivals and entertainment activities in Doha have helped families have a good time inside the country without the need to travel abroad to enjoy such performances. He stressed that children highly enjoyed the Russian circus and acrobats and the various games, all in one place and in good weather.
Saood al-Neemah, pointed out that Souq Waqif Spring Festival has become a distinctive event in the country and helped people enjoy their holidays in Doha. He also stressed that folk troupes are giving excellent performances. He made a special mention of performances by the Omani, Jordanian, and Tunisian troupes. Abdallah al-Kaabi expressed his wish to see more games suitable for children below 12.
