The Community College of Qatar (CCQ) is celebrating Qatar National Day (QND) at the “Doha Tent” in Darb Al Saai, alongside several prominent national institutions, joining forces to revive the illustrious legacy of the nation’s founder.
The college’s multi-day programme, which runs until December 20, features an array of educational activities, cultural shows and creative competitions held under the theme “The path of excellence is difficult”.
There are a variety of interactive games and a daily competition at the CCQ booth. This includes “Stars of Qatar”, an immersive multi-screen competition that tests visitors’ knowledge of iconic Qatari figures who left their mark on the country’s long history of continuous progress and development. The game, which was inspired by this year’s QND theme “The path of excellence is difficult”, gives participants the chance to snap a photo with the hosts Saud al-Mudahka and Tamim al-Malki upon completing the game, and share it on their social media accounts.
Action and adventure enthusiasts, on the other hand, get to explore the college’s academic specialisations such as the Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Network Security and the Associate of Applied Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, through two multi-stage PC games that simulate real-life scenarios that computer users and logistics professionals are exposed to in relevant contexts such as protecting their sensitive data on social media for the former and transporting goods for the latter. The games are designed to give youngsters a glimpse of the pivotal industries they get to join upon graduating from CCQ’s specialised degree programmes.
The digital walls at CCQ’s booth also introduce the younger generation to the college’s history and achievements, and display a wealth of key information such as the institution’s timeline and milestones, academic programs and services, statistics and infographics, as well as the success stories of its outstanding alumni over the years.
In tandem, the central play area indulges children’s imagination while introducing them to Qatar’s history and heritage with puzzled-based games of Doha’s landmarks, 3D pens to build miniature models of the country’s rich cultural features.
CCQ president Dr Mohamed al-Naemi congratulated the Qatari community on the occasion and wished students, faculty, and staff a blessed national day. He elaborated, “To contribute to our country’s amazing progress, CCQ continues to summon all resources available to create and develop a state-of-the-art learning environment for the sons and daughters of our nation, with the vision of creating generations of highly-skilled, fully-equipped leaders who can carry the torch forward and take Qatar to greater heights. On behalf of everyone at CCQ, I sincerely wish all of our students, graduates, and the entire nation a blessed
national day.”
Meanwhile, the CCQ community celebrated the auspicious occasion on-campus, where a specially-erected tent took faculty and staff on a voyage into the nation’s past through a series of traditional performances and activities. This included a live-cooking station that offered visitors a taste of authentic Qatari cuisine, Ardah national folkloric dance, a maritime exhibition with a variety of on-display sea-related tools and relics, and a photo booth for staff to take commemorative photos together. The College also organised a multi-day social media competition that asked participants to solve a cross-words puzzle by answering questions about the prominent figures of Qatar.
On the sidelines of this year’s festivities, CCQ Theatre Arts students are performing a daily operetta to celebrate QND at the Cultural Village Foundation’s (Katara) beach, with four re-runs from 4pm until 10pm. The show is directed by Maryam al-Maliki and Ibrahim Lari, and supervised by Dr Saeed al-Naji, head of the Theatre Arts Programme at CCQ. The final performance will be on December 19.
