Qatargas recently hosted the 16th Engineering Forum, which brought together more than 500 engineering experts from the oil and gas industry and academia.

The delegates represented major companies including Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Chemical Company, Shell Global Solutions, ExxonMobil, Dolphin Energy, Total, Qatar University and different academic institutions in Qatar.

During the annual event, the participants shared their expertise on vital topics concerning the industry including integrity, reliability, optimisation, innovation and technology.

On the event, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani, Qatargas chief executive officer said, “This annual assembly of engineering talent has proven to be an excellent platform to share industry and technical knowledge among peers. These are exciting times for our engineers, and it is a good opportunity to learn best practices, interact with technical experts, network with peers and understand what they are doing to compete in this challenging environment.”

A total of 115 abstracts were submitted, some 37 of which were selected to be presented at the forum, including 16 Posters.

Additionally, the focus on the sustainability of Qatargas’ facilities and operations as well as the seamless integration of the Qatargas North and South technical teams into the new Qatargas Company were highlighted during the forum.

In his concluding remarks, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla al-Thani, chief engineering & projects officer said, “Qatargas has achieved, and has been maintaining, a very high rate of asset reliability and availability for a very long period. This achievement is made possible by the dedication and commitment of everyone including our employees, shareholders, vendors, contractors and partners as well as our customers. We truly value this esteemed partnership and shared success.”

Participants also considered the best practices, lessons learned, production optimisation and cost-competitive economic strategies in the oil and gas industry in Qatar. The event also provided networking opportunities among peers and showcased case studies on a wide range of engineering subjects.
