QU-Health cluster in collaboration with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) and the Middle Eastern Association for Cancer Research, recently organised the ninth annual meeting of the Middle Eastern association for cancer research, titled: ‘Cancer science from bench to clinic,’ at Qatar University.
The conference was attended by Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jaber al-Thani, chairman of Qatar Cancer Society and Prof Egon Toft, vice president for Medical and Health Sciences, QU in addition to a large number of cancer scientists, researchers, physicians, and all those interested in cancer research, including graduate students, and public health practitioners in Qatar and abroad.
The conference aimed to exchange experiences and the latest findings of experts in this field and spread knowledge and encourage scientific co-operation between various universities and scientific institutions in the Middle East. The conference attracted the most prominent doctors, researchers and academics, with the aim of providing a rich programme of educational sessions and lectures centred on cancer research and modern methods of treatment.
Sheikh Khalid stressed the importance of keeping up with international experiences and expertise and taking every opportunity to develop the society’s programmes and plans through organisation and participation in all conferences and events within and outside Qatar. This would help enrich its work through the exchange of ideas and vision among specialists.
QCS has based its work on achieving the vision of the state to invest in human resources, as the presence of physically and psychologically healthy individuals requires concerted efforts to achieve goals that no one side alone can achieve in isolation from other parties, he added.
