Qatar strongly condemns attack on passenger bus in Kenya
Qatar has strongly condemned the attack that targeted a passenger bus in Kotulo area in Kenya, causing several deaths.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm position rejecting violence and terrorism, whatever the motives and reasons. The statement expressed the condolences of the State of Qatar to the victims’ families, the government and people of Kenya, wishing the wounded to a speedy recovery.
Qatar condemns attack on military camp in Niger
Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the armed attack on an military camp in Niger, which led to dozens of deaths. In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of the motives and causes. The statement expressed the State of Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Niger.
Foreign Ministry holds farewell ceremony for Italian envoy
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held yesterday a farewell ceremony in honour of Italian ambassador Pasquale Salzano, on the occasion of the end of his tenure in Qatar. The ceremony, which was held at the Diplomatic Club, was attended by ambassador Salem Abdullah al-Jaber, director of European Affairs Department and ambassador Ibrahim Yousef Fakhroo, director of Protocol Department. Heads of diplomatic missions and bureaus accredited to the country attended the function.
Shura Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee holds meeting
Shura Council’s Services and Public Utilities Committee held a meeting yesterday under the chairmanship of its Rapporteur Mohamed bin Mahdi al-Ahbabi. During the meeting, the committee discussed a draft law on organising medical treatment abroad and decided to approve the draft law and submit its recommendations thereon to the Shura Council. The meeting was attended by Chairman of the International Medical Affairs Office at HMC and Conference Chairperson Dr Saad al-Kaabi, Director of Medical Relations for Overseas Dr Ghalia al-Harmi, Director of Legal Affairs Department in the Ministry of Public Health Dr Ali Jaber Dharman and member of the Higher Committee for Treatment Abroad Dr Al Hareth bin Rashid al-Khater.
Dignitaries to attend Doha Forum
President Sahle-Work Zewde of Ethiopia, President of Rwanda Paul Kagame and Armenian President Armen Sarkissian will arrive in Doha today to participate in Doha Forum 2019, which will be held on December 14 and 15.
Ooredoo to sponsor Flag Relay
Ooredoo has announced it is sponsoring the third edition of the Flag Relay, an event planned in celebration of Qatar National Day.
Around 5,000 people – including Team Qatar and representatives from all sections of the community – will participate, raising the flag in a relay across Doha.
The Flag Relay will include five locations: Qatar Olympic Committee, Qatar Foundation, Corniche, Katara and Hamad International Airport, where the flag will be handed to a Qatar Airways pilot who will fly it to Japan for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Speaking of the event, Manar Khalifa al-Muraikhi – director of PR and Corporate Communications at Ooredoo – said: “We are honoured to be supporting our country in this event, which fits perfectly with our commitment to supporting events that benefit the communities in which we operate.
