Doha Festival City (DHFC) announced a host of festivities around the mall until December 18 in celebration of Qatar National Day.

Traditional activities such as the Mini Souq will take place daily from 4pm to 10pm at the Axis node, ground floor, featuring the Henna Majlis, where shoppers can get authentic henna drawings. At the same area, a Carpet Workshop Majlis will host a carpet maker who will demonstrate to the visitors the art of weaving carpets the traditional way.

The Mini Souq theme will extend to the Centre Court, First Floor, with Fishnet and Pearl Accessories making stations. Available daily from 4pm to 10pm, this majlis features two artists demonstrating how fishnets and pearl accessories are made.

Customers can also take a Instagram-able photos in national or traditional Qatari attire at the photo booth nearby.

At the Market Node, ground floor, an artificial Sidra Tree, an icon of Qatar’s plains and geography, will be installed. Visitors are invited to leave notes and memos and hang it to the tree in commemoration of Qatar National Day. Visitors are also invited to take a photo of themselves against the tree and tag #SidratreeatDHFC for a chance to win prizes. Local artists will live paint two walls on the bridge in First Floor Centre Court and at the Atrium Node. Canvases on easels showcasing artworks by different artists will also be displayed beside them. On December 18, all customer service desks will offer shoppers traditional coffee and dates, while an Arabesque Jazz Band will perform live in a Majlis, where coffee and dates will be served. Robert Hall, general manager of DHFC, said: “We look forward to welcoming everyone as we celebrate Qatar’s National Day together. We have a lot of festivities this year, catered to the whole family.”

DHFC has 420 stores open, including 46 exclusive brands and more than 100 places offering food and beverages. DHFC is a 40-minute drive from Hamad International Airport, 20 minutes from West Bay and 10 minutes from Al Gharrafa.
