The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the completion of first phase of the construction works on the new 1.2km road connecting Al Tarfa Intersection to Qatar University (QU) Metro Station and the opening of its carriageway to traffic.
The new road provides a direct access to the Doha Metro’s Red line newly operational QU Station.
According to a statement by Ashghal yesterday, it was keen to accelerate the completion of the first phase of the project to serve the launch of operations of the QU Metro Station and facilitate access to it. The statement said that work on the second stage of the project is to be completed by the first quarter of 2020.
The remaining works include the construction of a roundabout to connect with QU and the provision of additional parking on both sides of the road in addition to road lighting works, the development of a rainwater drainage network and landscaping works on both sides of the road.
