An agreement was signed between Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) and Qatar Petroleum Development (QPD) with the aim to sponsor training for students with The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE).
The agreement was signed between QU-CENG dean Dr Khalid Kamal Naji, and QPD general manager Yosuke Watanabe, in the presence of representatives of both parties.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr Naji said, “Qatar University  is represented by the College of Engineering as a member of IAESTE, an international organisation of 89 countries. Each member should provide training opportunities to the students where such opportunities are exchanged during the annual conference of IAESTE. Training includes the preparation of a detailed training programme for each student and covering the cost of accommodation in addition to the monthly salary of the trainee.”
“QU-CENG is pleased to partner with QPD in fostering CENG educational and awareness programmes. This agreement comes in line with QU’s commitment to provide community with outreach activities that aim to enhance and enrich students’ experience in the engineering field and provide them with the skills and abilities that help them join the workforce and become future leaders,” he said.
“QPD strongly believes that corporate social responsibility is a key pillar of human development. Therefore, constant efforts are made to support and encourage the social responsibility initiatives and programs that positively reflected on the social levels inside the Qatari society. This year, QPD is glad to support CSR programme at Qatar University, which is the primary institution of higher education and research in this country,” Watanabe added.
