Heads of delegations participating in the 7th Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) Conference, in Doha, watched a live stream of the 4th edition of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award which took place in Rwandan capital Kigali yesterday.
The participating parliamentarians discussed in the second plenary session on accountability, with the attendance of HE the Speaker of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, Chairman of Global Organisation of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC) Dr Fadli Zon, and President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Gabriela Barron.
The participants reviewed their experiences in promoting transparency and fighting corruption in all its forms. They also discussed the role of the parliament in honouring the aspirations of the people through legislation that enhance good governance, integrity, and transparency.
They also discussed the challenges facing the fight against corruption and stressed the role of civil society organisations in promoting transparency. - QNA
