Doha Festival City has announced a new adventure for children to celebrate the global premiere of the long-awaited family movie, 'Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker'.
To be held from December 12 until January 12, 2020, the free-of-charge activation will be set up at the Centre Court, ground floor, at Doha Festival City - bringing "an exciting adventure" for children and their families from 3pm to 10pm daily.
The event caters to children aged up to 12 years although some zones are unsuitable for those under six years, according to a press statement from Doha Festival City.
Admissions will be based on batches, with a maximum of five people per batch in each zone. Children must be registered to access the area, while Kids Club members will enjoy fast-track access throughout the activity duration.
Customers who like to sign up their children for the Kids Club membership can do so via the Doha Festival City website or by visiting the Customer Service desk on the first floor near Harvey Nichols.
Visitors and shoppers will experience 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' by undertaking different tasks across eight zones divided into Dark and Light sides, each containing different entertaining activities.
Participants will enter through the themed arch to enter the 'Star Wars' station, where they will be given a card that will record their scores in upcoming activities. In Zone 2, they will use a Blaster and hone their shooting skills using Nerf guns, while in Zone 3, they will enjoy a visual about the characters of the movie. Participants will be asked to focus, just like Rey from the movie, to raise a crate from the ground, in Zone 4.
In Zone 5, participants will discover if they are on the dark or light side after entering their scores from the previous zones, and they will select a robe and light saber for the next stage. With their gear on, visitors will pose for a photo opportunity in a scene with Rey to either battle the stormtroopers or be one of them, creating a photo memento.
For Lego fans, Zone 7 will enable them to build their own 'Star Wars' structure or masks, while the last and final area of the journey will open a door to a world of 'Star Wars' memorabilia and merchandise exclusive for the new movie release.
"The event continues our series of unique entertainment activations for children and families at Festival City, giving shoppers unparallelled experiences as expected from their preferred entertainment and shopping destination in Qatar," the statement noted.
Robert Hall, general manager, said: “Doha Festival City delights in bringing the best in fun and learning for our shoppers. 'Star Wars' is a family favourite around the world and we are very excited to introduce this unique experience. We are looking forward to the global premiere and welcoming the movie fans and lovers. We look forward to welcoming you to enjoy more memorable moments with us at the one and only Doha Festival City.”
