The Qatari pavilion, on the sidelines of the 25th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in the Spanish capital Madrid, will offer many activities, presentations, projects and initiatives that highlight Qatar’s role in combating climate change, presented by a number of experts and specialists along with the Qatari delegation.
The Qatari pavilion features presentations, videos and activities by various parties inside and outside the country, to show national efforts and projects and how to tackle the phenomenon of climate change, and to enhance co-operation with international bodies in order to serve future projects in the country.
Among the contents is the Green Cars initiative and the opening of the unique PV plant in the world, where electric cars are charged with solar energy that the station stores, as well as highlighting civil aviation efforts in the field of protecting the civil aviation environment in Qatar, and achieving a safe and effective and sustainable civil aviation system, in a way that further enhances Qatar’s position in the global civil aviation industry map, in addition to other awareness-raising initiatives and programmes that aim to raise the awareness of the individual in preserving natural resources and achieving environmental sustainability within the framework of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Within the activities of the Qatari pavilion, a seminar entitled, "The role of technology in facing climate change challenges and how to benefit from carbon dioxide gas" was held, which featured a number of lectures by speakers from Qatar and abroad.
Qatar is one of the first countries to sign the Paris Agreement on climate, as the “country is aware of its importance.”
Discussions and negotiations on the implementation of the Paris Agreement and accompanying events are expected to continue until December 13, with the participation of a number of heads of state and ministers concerned with climate change.
