Qatar Charity (QC) has signed three agreements with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) and Arabian Medical Relief (AMR) to boost existing co-operation and co-ordination on projects and assistance for Syrian refugees and those affected by the Syrian crisis.
These agreements come as part of Qatar Charity’s efforts made to strengthen its relations with its partners in Jordan, it has said in a statement.
The pacts include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a co-operation agreement on orphan care between QC and JHCO.
The MoU aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two parties, which has been lasting for several years, considering that JHCO is the body authorised to oversee and co-ordinate relief projects in Jordan, and improve co-operation between them to implement more programmes and joint projects and develop existing ones.
The co-operation agreement aims to co-ordinate efforts on social welfare, the sponsorship of orphans, low-income families, students and people with special needs to benefit refugees living in Jordan and the members of the local community.
The agreements were signed by Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, CEO of QC, and Ayman al-Mufleh, secretary-general of JHCO.
Believing in the importance of medical relief work to reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics in refugee camps, QC, AMR and JHCO have signed a contract to operate the Qatar Charity Medical Centre at the Zaatari refugee camp, which was established by QC in co-operation with Arabian Medical Relief to continue providing medical care to Syrian refugees at the camp for another year.
Under the signed contract, QC shall provide the expenses for operating the centre (staff, medicines, and medical and technical supplies), while AMR will manage the centre. JHCO will facilitate procedures forremittances and disbursement.
The deal was inked by al-Kuwari, Dr Awni al-Bashir, chairman of the AMR board of directors, and al-Mufleh.
Al-Kuwari welcomed al-Mufleh and Dr al-Bashir, and extended his gratitude to them for the sincere efforts exerted by the teams of the two organisations in the implementation and operation of joint projects with Qatar Charity previously.
He hoped that the signed agreements would contribute to the improvement of existing co-operation and the co-ordination of joint efforts for the benefit of Syrian refugees and the affected in Jordan.
Al-Kuwari also thanked, at the end of his speech, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani, Qatar’s ambassador to Jordan, for his efforts in strengthening relations between the Qatari and Jordanian people, supporting charitable work and facilitating QC’s humanitarian and charitable activity in Jordan.
"These agreements came to affirm the strategic partnership and expand the relationship between QC and JHCO to extend assistance to refugees in
Jordan and underprivileged Jordanian families,” said al-Mufleh, noting that join projects between the two organisations would continue.
Dr al-Bashir expressed delight at signing the deal for operating the Qatar Charity Medical Centre for another year. “This pact is an affirmation of partnership and co-operation with QC, with an increase in support for Syrian refugees, including providing treatment for chronic diseases.”
Over the past three years, the centre has received between 400 and 500 cases per day, offering them free diagnostic, laboratory, radiology and treatment services due to the support by provided by people in Qatar through QC.
He thanked the Qatari leadership, government, people and QC for supporting refugees and the needy, which falls within the framework of the
humanitarian charitable role of Qatar worldwide.
