After 77 years, 22 books stolen by the Nazis are to
be returned to the library of the HohenEichen House, a Jesuit centre
in the eastern German city of Dresden.
The university and state libraries in Saxony said the volumes would
be handed over on Wednesday.
The books, identified by a stamp mark during a research project into
Nazi loot, include a dictionary of church terminology.
HohenEichen House was founded in 1921 and is the centre of the Jesuit
order in Dresden and the nearby town of Meissen.
It was closed by the Nazis in 1941 and all of the buildings and their
contents were confiscated.
An unknown quantity of books were gifted by the Gestapo to the state
library. All but 22 of those were destroyed when the city was bombed
by the Allies in 1945.
