HE the President of Planning and Statistics Authority, Dr Saleh bin Mohamed al-Nabit stressed that Qatar is an important player in the field of modernising its statistical data and frameworks
Speaking at an event marking Qatar Statistics Day, HE al-Nabit said that the statistical data issued by the Authority are very transparent, and adhere to the scientific criteria and standards set by the designated international agencies and organisations.
He pointed to the efforts made by the agency in co-operation with the partners to build a national statistical system that complements national strategies with accurate statistical data, measures the level of growth at various levels, and monitors and tracking the state's progress in various international indicators.
HE al-Nabit pointed out that the celebration of the Qatar Statistics Day, which falls on December 6 this year, coincides with the implementation of the first phase of the Qatar Census 2020, an important national project.
The event included presentations on the statistical efforts of the Planning and Statistics Authority. The presentations focused on the Qatar 2020 Census, the progress made by Qatar in the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 indicators and the Foreign Trade Portal on the website of the Authority.
The presentation on the census revealed that more than 50% of the field work on the census of buildings has been completed.
The presentation also focused on the most important administrative uses of the census data, including knowing the extent of the change in the social, economic and demographic characteristics of the population, determining the boundaries of the electoral districts, distributing the percentage of population representation in those districts, studying the demographic composition of the society, determining their needs of goods and services that suit them, and measuring the extent of development in the standard of living of the population, and provide a comprehensive and modern framework for families, to carry out household surveys and research in the sample in the future.
A presentation was made on the indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the progress made by Qatar in this regard.
The presentation on the foreign trade portal focused on introducing this interactive portal, which deals with monitoring the exchange of goods between Qatar and other countries and regions, and the importance of this portal and its role in providing researchers and interested data with accurate data in this field.
