Commercial Bank is hosting for the first time the author and futurist Brett King at the Euromoney Qatar conference, which will get underway in Doha from December 8 to 9.

"We are pleased to host King, a world leader in digital strategy which is also a key plank of Qatar’s economic growth and an important part of Commercial Bank’s strategy," said the bank's group chief executive Dr Joseph Abraham.

The Euromoney conference is a major industry event in Qatar, bringing together leaders from around the world to discuss pressing global financial issues, especially relating to Qatar and its economy.

The main focus of this year’s conference will be on the future of Qatar, and on how the small but resourceful and capital-rich Qatari economy is transforming its already sizeable role in the global economy to meet the new demands of 21st century business and finance.

King — an expert in innovation, customer experience and technology disruption — is a sought-after speaker who has delivered keynotes in 50 different countries during the last three years, and has appeared as a commentator on prominent media news agencies, and has advised governments on Fintech policy and banks on technology transformation.

In a keynote interview on the first day of the conference, Abraham will explore Qatar’s achievements in 2019 and economic prospects for 2020, the future of Commercial Bank in the context of digitisation, and the bank’s expectations for the coming year.

Dr Leonie Lethbridge, EGM, chief operating officer of Commercial Bank, will speak on the second day during a panel on the future of banking, treating digital transformation and disruption, technology and cybersecurity.

On hosting King; Commercial Bank EGM, chief marketing officer, Hussein Ali al-Abdulla said “as market-pioneers in innovation and technology, we see hosting the futurist King as an opportunity for the bank as well as the nation to explore and navigate innovation towards the future."
