President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met here on Tuesday at the presidential palace with HE Governor of the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud al-Thani and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting dealt with bilateral relations in the financial, banking, and investment sectors.

The two sides stressed the importance of elevating ties to new levels that will be mutually beneficial.

Sheikh Abdulla and his accompanying delegation also met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin. They reviewed bilateral co-operation.

The meeting was also attended by governor of the Astana International Financial Centre, Kairat Kelimbetov; First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and Minister of Finance, Alikhan Smailov; Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Ruslan Dalenov, and Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister, Aidyn Karimov.

Sheikh Abdulla and Kelimbetov discussed the services offered by the Astana International Financial Centre to financial institutions that will look to set up subsidiaries with the centre.

The QCB governor and the accompanying delegation also met with the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, Beibut Atamkulov and discussed foreign direct investment projects.

Sheikh Abdulla's meeting with with the CEO of Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund, Akhmetzhan Yessimov focused on joint investment fields.

Sheikh Abdulla's visit to Kazakhstan came in response to an invitation from governor of the Astana International Financial Centre.

The QCB governor was accompanied by a high-ranking delegation comprising representatives from the QCB, Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar Financial Center, Qatar Stock Exchange, and representatives from Qatari banks.
