Qatar has attended the 15th International Higher Education Conference, held in the Indian capital New Delhi from 27-29 November, with the participation of more than 64 countries, and more than a thousand participants, including ministers, undersecretaries, heads of universities non-governmental organisations, as well as a large group of officials in the field of higher education, scientific research and technology.
Qatar’s delegation to the conference was headed by Ministry of Education undersecretary Dr Ibrahim al-Nuaimi. 
The aim of the conference is to enhance the quality of higher education and scientific research and study the best ways to prepare and equip the competencies and educational services, as well as benefit from expertise in areas of common interest to the participating countries.
The conference, which is held annually in New Delhi to discuss issues related to higher education, is an opportunity for open discussions among participants, and focus on the development of the ecosystem of strategic partnerships in the higher education sector between India and other countries.
The Qatari delegation, during a visit to a group of government institutions concerned with higher education in India, discussed ways of co-operation in the field of higher education and the systems of academic accreditation of universities and the equivalence of university degrees.

Kuwaiti assembly speaker thanks Qatar
HE the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq al-Ghanim has praised the reception accorded to the participants in the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup, currently taking place in Doha. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to Qatar for the reception.
Al-Ghanem said in a statement on Friday that the real winner was the GCC gathering, adding: “The result of the matches is just honest competition between brothers”. He stressed that the competition succeeded before the kick off when all teams participated.
The Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly described Qatar’s organisation of the World Cup 2022 as a source of pride for all Arabs, given it will be the first time an Arab country will be hosting such an event.
He added that they consider themselves partners in the World Cup and expressed hope that things move smoothly on that front.
He also said that Qatar has succeeded in organising a number of major events, including the 140th Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union six months ago.
On the competition, al-Ghanim highlighted the desire of all players to win their respective matches.
He also wished Iraq luck as hosts of the next edition of the competition, wishing the country stability, security and safety. – QNA

QP announces fuel prices for December
Qatar Petroleum (QP) yesterday announced the petrol and diesel prices for December.
QP has retained the prices for super grade petrol and diesel, while premium grade petrol will cost 5 dirhams more.
The price list on QP website showed that premium grade petrol will cost QR1.75 per litre, five dirhams more than November price of QR1.70. Super will be available for QR1.90 per litre, the same as in November.
Diesel will cost QR1.85 per litre, the same as last month. – QNA

Qatar condemns explosions in Iraq
Qatar has expressed its strong denouncement and condemnation of the series of explosions that targeted the centre of Iraq’s Kirkuk city and the attack on a security checkpoint in Dialy, which left a number of people, including a security officer, dead in addition to others injured.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed in a statement yesterday Qatar’s firm position rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of its motives. The statement also expressed Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims, the government and people of Iraq, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. – QNA
