The State of Qatar called for united efforts to ensure that gas exporting countries continue to develop their natural gas resources and expand their trade routes.
Addressing the 5th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) in Malabo, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi said that the GECF countries have the same objective: to place natural gas at the heart of the energy industry as a fuel of the future, and to affirm their true belief that natural gas is a cornerstone in the energy transition.
"We are committed to working with countries across the globe to ensure the security of their energy supplies and the sustainability of their economic growth," HE Minister Al Kaabi added.

HE the Minister of State for Energy Affairs voiced support of promoting a meaningful dialogue between gas exporters and importers and other concerned organizations with the objective of greater understanding and appreciation of the role of natural gas in the support of both economic development and environmental preservation. "As a cleaner alternative, natural gas is the catalyst for better economic performance and environmental impact. No other source of energy enjoys its versatility and flexibility, as well as its economic and environmental qualities," he said.
HE Minister Al Kaabi said that the next summit, which will be held in Doha in 2021, for the second time since the first summit in 2011, will come amidst final preparations leading to the FIFA World Cup 2022 finals. "This iconic competition will not only be about sports, but it will also be about people, peace, harmony, development and prosperity," he added.
"The 2022 World Cup will also be the first carbon-neutral competition, which will utilize solar power as well as various energy-saving technologies," HE Minister Al Kaabi said.
In concluding his speech at the summit, HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi affirmed the State of Qatars commitment to the Forums mission and objectives, and called on all concerned to work hand in hand, and to preserve the cornerstones of their economic and industrial growth and development.
