The new ambassadors selected by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the organisation responsible for delivering tournament infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup 2022, said they were delighted to be present during an important sporting event, the 24th edition of the Arabian Gulf Football Cup in Doha.
The SC has announced that ten new local and regional stars have joined its ambassador programme.
The SC ambassador family already consists of global icons Xavi Hernandez, Samuel Eto’o, Cafu and local star Mohamed Saadon al-Kuwari. Joining them now are Ali al-Habsi, Mobarak Mostafa, Ibrahim Khalfan, Adel Khamis, Ahmed Khalil, Khalid Salman, Mohamed Aboutrika, Younis Mahmood, Bader al-Motawaa and Wael Gomaa.
Former Qatar star Khalid Salman thanked the SC for his presence and participation in the forum, hoping to be the best ambassador for his country and sports and athletes in the entire Arab world.
For his part, Mohamed Saadon al-Kuwari, senior sports presenter with Qatari network beIN SPORTS, expressed his delight at being chosen among the ambassadors of the SC, adding that the new ambassadors are the best addition to the existing group “in order to be together in the World Cup Qatar”. 
Al-Kuwari noted that the SC is working to add everyone who can contribute and provide everything that is useful to host an exceptional and unique to the championship; considered by all standards is the largest in the sports arena.
Al-Kuwari invited the sports audience to attend and follow the matches of the Arabian Gulf Cup stressing that the presence of the sports public in the stadiums hosting the tournament matches contributes significantly to its success.
Adel Khamis, a former Qatari player, said he was delighted to be chosen among the SC ambassadors. “The Qatar 2022 World Cup is an exceptional event and a tournament for the entire Middle East, not just for Qatar, and we, former players, are delighted to participate in this event and contribute to the promotion of the tournament,” he said.
“We live in the atmosphere of the World Cup these days with Qatar hosting the 24th Gulf Cup which is a rehearsal to host the next World Cup.”
Meanwhile, Wael Gomaa, former Egyptian international player, said he was delighted to be chosen as ambassador for the 2022 World Cup along with a group of former international players. “With a group of former stars I hope to contribute to reflect the beautiful image of the World Cup, which will be an exceptional event by all measures,” he said.
“Every Qatari is proud to host the largest international sporting event in an Arab country,” said Qatari former football star Ahmed Khalil.
“From the World Cup in 2022, we now have the 24th Gulf Championship, which I am sure will come out in the best shape like the previous tournaments,” he added.
