Said Mohamed Brahimi scored five goals as Al Khor thrashed giants Al Duhail 7-0 in the second round of the Ooredoo Cup at the Al Khor Stadium yesterday.
In front of home fans, Brahmi found the target in the 11th, 50th, 54th, 61st and 84th minutes while a double from Ahmed Hassan al-Mohannadi (14th, 32nd, penalty) completed the tally.
It was Al Khor’s first victory in this season’s tournament as they had drawn 1-1 with Al Arabi in Round 1. The Knights have four points, while Al Duhail, who had drawn 2-2 with Al Gharafa earlier, have two points.
It was a repeat clash between Al Duhail and Al Khor at the same venue in successive weeks, with the former winning in Week 10 of the QNB Stars League, which has taken a long break.
Al Khor were rewarded for their efforts with three goals in the first half and four in the second. They got the penalty for a foul on Ahmed Hassan by Al Duhail’s Ahmed al- Khuwalid and the former converted from the spot.
On the other hand, Al Duhail, who are leading the 2019-20 QNB Stars League table with an unbeaten record, could not find their footing as they were the more affected side due to the absence of senior players.
Even the three substitutions they made in the second half did not help their cause either.
The result was definitely a consolation for Al Khor, who are struggling in 10th place in the league.
Meanwhile, Kayke Rodriguez struck a brilliant hat-trick as Qatar SC blanked Al Gharafa 3-0.
Kayke scored in the sixth, 38th and 90+4 minutes.
Qatar SC moved on to six points with their second victory, having defeated Al Sailiya 4-0 in the first round.
Al Gharafa now have two points as they had drawn 2-2 with Al Duhail earlier.
Qatar SC were the only team to have registered a victory in Group B in the first round, as Al Khor drew 1-1 with Al Arabi.
Yesterday, Qatar SC dominated two-time reigning champions Al Gharafa throughout. Brazilian forward Rodriguez was in fine form. He scored two goals in the first half and completed his hat-trick in style as the game was drawing to a close.
Qatar SC goalkeeper Motasem Majed was in outstanding form, effecting at least two smart saves, as Al Gharafa, who missed many players due to national duty, struggled to find a breakthrough.
Kayke first found the target off a cross from Hamad Mansour.  His second came after he was set up by Elmehdi Barrahma.
Kayke rounded off his and the team’s tally off a counter-attack.
In another match, Al Arabi got their first victory in the 2019-20 edition of Ooredoo Cup, thanks to a 2-1 defeat of Al Sailiya .
Both goals for Al Arabi were scored by Hamdi Harbaoui in the 23rd and 41st minutes. Al Sailiya had equalised through Hassan Sadiq in the 25th minute.
