Qatar participated in the 58th meeting of the Committee for Trade Co-operation, the 46th meeting of the Committee for Industrial Co-operation and the first meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardization Affairs, held in Muscat with a delegation headed by HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari.
The Committee for Trade Co-operation discussed several issues of common concern, including trade issues, common challenges facing Gulf Co-operation Council countries, ways to activate joint GCC work in the field of trade, encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives for SMEs in the GCC, and ways to integrate these companies into the fields of economic development, in addition to identifying a common Gulf position on issues related to WTO aspects.
During the meeting of the Committee for Trade Cooperation, the ministers welcomed the holding of the annual forum for entrepreneurs in 2020 in Dhofar, Oman.
The Committee for Industrial Co-operation discussed a number of issues of concern to the industrial environment in the GCC countries, particularly the unified industrial regulation law, the obstacles and difficulties facing the iron industry sector, as well as the free movement of national goods between GCC countries without customs restrictions.
The Qatari delegation participated in the consultative meeting between the ministers of commerce and industry and heads of GCC unions and chambers of commerce and industry held in Muscat.
