The high-flying Al Rayyan will look to continue their good run when they take on Al Shahania in the QNB Stars League at the Al Duhail Stadium today. Rayyan are second in the table with 21 points, two less than table toppers Al Duhail with both the side unbeaten in the league.
Uruguayan Diego Aguirre-coached Al Rayyan were held to draws in their first three games. However, they made a strong comeback with six consecutive victories, including last week’s 2-0 win over Al Sailiya, and hav e emerged as hot contenders for the title. Rayyan’s scalps also included Al Sadd in the Qatar Clasico and Al Arabi. 
With Shahania at the bottom of the table with just three points, Rayyan should be able to sail through the contest. Jose Murcia-coached side are also the only side yet to record a victory this season. But Aguirre cautioned his players against any complacency, saying Shahania are no easy opponents.
“The match will not be easy despite the difference between the two teams in the table. It is wrong to think that the game will be easy for our team. We do not look at the difference in points. We will play very seriously and we want to get a win,” said Aguirre, who confirmed Rodrigo Tabata will not play due to an injury. 
In another match today, Al Arabi host Al Sailiya. Al Arabi have had a good run this season with a spate of positive results. However, their fortunes have taken a beating of late, starting with their 0-1 loss to Al Gharafa. The Dream Team then lost 1-2 to Al Rayyan before being held to a 2-2 draw by Al Wakrah last week and are fifth in the points table.
But Al Arabi have the advantage of having played one match less as their Week 5 fixture Against defending champions Al Sadd was deferred due to the latter’s AFC Champions League commitment.
