The US embassy has highlighted the participation of several US companies and engagement with Qatari government digital initiatives at the Qatar Information Technology and Communication Conference and Exhibition (Qitcom 2019).
“We are glad to see the US participation at Qitcom this year. We had six major companies (Microsoft, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Oracle, Dell Technologies, and Intel, two American startups (Litterati and Trust Stamp) and our very own Commercial office from the embassy showcasing their respective engagements with the Qatari government on digital initiatives,” said William Grant, Charge d’Affaires, US embassy.
“US companies continue to be some of the largest technology partners for Qatar; whether it’s the iPhone you carry, a social media or search engine you use, or major infrastructure project you’re developing in Doha, you are interfacing with an American technology on a daily basis. Technology has become more than an industry in the United States; it has grown to become a global platform, largely powered by American innovation,” explained Grant.
He also said that it was exciting to see the government of Qatar initiatives such as Tasmu, collaborating with American firms of different sizes for different projects.
“One example of this is the announcement of the collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications ( MoTC) with Microsoft; Microsoft Azure has been chosen as the cloud service provider of choice for the digital transformation initiative of Qatar. We were also pleased to see Cisco sign three agreements with Ooredoo Group and MoTC for collaboration on Qatar’s digital transformation initiative.
Similar announcements are expected in the near future,” added Grant.
