Commercial Bank, with the community’s wellbeing at the heart of its mission, partnered with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) as a Gold Sponsor for their ‘Walk to Support’ campaign.

The bank conducted a variety of joint awareness-raising activities and workshops in October to support the society as part of its mission to raise breast cancer awareness, a press statement noted.

Emphasising the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Commercial Bank launched the ‘One Image’ campaign exclusively for its employees. The bank’s employees got the opportunity to attend the informative Breast Cancer Awareness Sessions and enjoy exciting activities held on the sidelines.

They attended an awareness lecture as well as a preparation of a healthy meal in the 'pink kitchen'. Afterwards, certificates of attendance were presented to the participants.

As part of the 'One Image' campaign, Commercial Bank’s female employees attended a workshop titled 'Our Passion in our Health', which was delivered by specialists in the Health Education Department at QCS. The successful workshop was all about fun and useful activities, the statement said.

To conclude its awareness campaign, Commercial Bank employees also took part in the recent 'Walk to Support' initiative to help raise awareness, express encouragement and compassion for those living with breast cancer. Not only did the employees take part in the memorable walk, but also had the opportunity to obtain a breast cancer early detection free consultation, along with a chance to participate in the competitions while kids enjoyed face painting and colourful balloons, the statement added.

Abeer Marwan AlKalla, head of Corporate Communications and CSR at Commercial Bank, said: “We are committed to lend our support to spread awareness about the disease and send out important health messages. The activities we did were all in co-ordination with Qatar Cancer Society. The awareness session at our head office aimed at encouraging female staff members to do early check-ups along with a symbolic activity that aims to promote how quick the process is.

"We encouraged staff to take a photo and post it on our vibrant ‘One Image’ campaign backdrop. Activities that focused on fitness and healthy lifestyles were offered during all our events this month and we are pleased to see our employees proactively taking part in our campaign and showing their support.”

Mona Ashknani, director of Support Services Department at Qatar Cancer Society, noted: “'Walk to Support' comes within the 'Blossom' campaign, held in the month of October each year and seeks to raise awareness of breast cancer while highlighting the importance of periodic examinations and spreading a healthy lifestyle culture.”

Thanking Commercial Bank for supporting QCS's campaigns and initiatives, Ashknani added: “'Blossom' targets all categories of the Qatari society through co-operation with various State institutions to raise awareness of this disease and ways to prevent it.”
