The International Chamber of Commerce Qatar (ICC Qatar) is organising a workshop slated on November 6 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Doha, in collaboration with the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF).
Under the patronage of Qatar Chamber and ICC Qatar chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, the ICC Qatar Incoterms 2020 training will be led by Robert Ronai from 9am to 4pm.
The training will be beneficial for individuals who deal with business transactions in buying and selling, freight forwarders, and consultants, among others, Qatar Chamber said in a statement. This comprehensive Incoterms 2020 training will enable attendees to obtain 6 PDUs from the LIBF, it said.
The ICC released the Incoterms 2020 during its centenary year in September 2019, providing certainty and clarity to businesses trading across borders everywhere. The Incoterms rules are the language of international trade.
Ronai’s background in exporting and importing spans more than 50 years, initially in international banking then in the world of international commerce. Ronai holds a Diploma in Export Management (1977) from the Australian Institute of Export (NSW) and is a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) by The London Institute of Banking and Finance.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Export and International Chamber of Commerce Australia.
Ronai said, “Anyone involved in international trade, whether importers, exporters, transport operators, lawyers, accountants, bankers, need to have a good understanding of the new Incoterms 2020 rules.”
The official sponsors for the Incoterms 2020 training are Qatar Development Bank (QDB), Exxon Mobil, and Milaha.
Milaha Maritime & Logistics executive vice president Anders Lund Kristensen stressed that Incoterms are essential in international supply chain and have become an integral part of the common language of global trade.
These (Incoterms) define important responsibilities of buyers and sellers; they determine how costs and risks are allocated between the parties. Incoterms 2020 contains updates to reflect some of the latest developments in global trade practices and have been updated to make them more accessible, easier to use and will hence reduce instances of disputes.
He said Milaha is pleased to sponsor the ICC Qatar Incoterms event, which would facilitate clarity and predictability for the benefit of all parties in the supply chain.
ICC Qatar stressed the importance of the updated Incoterms 2020 rules, which will be releasing after 10 years. “This will be a highly-informative session and will benefit all relevant businesses and professionals attending the training in Qatar,” the statement added.
