His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani have sent cables to President Paul Biya of Cameroon, condoling the victims of landslides caused by heavy rains in western Cameroon, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Separately, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani has also sent a cable of condolences to the Prime Minister of Cameroon Joseph Dion Ngute.

FM sends message to Argentine counterpart
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina Jorge Faurie has received a written message from HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, pertaining to bilateral relations between Qatar and Argentina and means to develop them. The message was handed over by Qatar’s ambassador to Argentina Battal bin Meajeb al-Dosari, during his meeting with the Director of Protocol at the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Salvia.

FM sends message to San Marino justice minister
The Minister of Foreign and Political Affairs and Justice of San Marino Nicola Renzi has received a written message from HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, pertaining to bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them. The message was delivered by Qatar’s ambassador (Non-resident) to San Marino, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Malki, during his meeting with the ambassador of San Marino to Italy Daniela Rotondaro in Rome yesterday.

Abbas meets head of Qatari panel for Gaza reconstruction
The President of Palestine State Mahmoud Abbas met HE the Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, Ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi in Ramallah yesterday.
President Abbas briefed HE ambassador al-Emadi on the latest Palestinian situation, especially with regard to the holding of elections and the results of meetings held by the chairman of the Central Election Commission in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
For his part, HE ambassador al-Emadi reiterated Qatar’s commitment to support the Palestinian people and their just cause.

Shura Council takes part in Arab parliament session
The first plenary meeting of the fourth session of the Arab parliament’s second legislative term kicked off in Cairo yesterday. Qatar is participating in the meetings with a delegation from the Shura Council. The meetings will discuss foreign and political affairs, Arab national security, developments in the political and security situation in some Arab countries, and developments in joint Arab action. They will also discusses the draft budget of the Arab Parliament for 2020, and a number of draft laws to facilitate trade and transport in the world as well as the parliamentary visions in the economic field, including a parliamentary vision on the electrical link between the Arab countries and a vision to activate the common Arab market.

Ministry to start receiving applications for new school licences from November 3
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced that it will receive applications for licensing and operating new private schools and kindergartens for the 2020-2021 academic year, from Sunday, November 3, until December 31.
In a notice posted on social media, the ministry said it has set the conditions and requirements with regard to the owner, premises and academics in accordance with the Private School Licensing Manual.
The conditions stipulate that the applicant should not be employed at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education or in any of its affiliated bodies. Also, the applicants shall not be less than 21 years of age.
A copy of the applicant’s ID card is required for the purpose.
