The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah said that the Gulf crisis has weakened the capabilities of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries and threatened their achievements, stressing that it is no longer acceptable for the dispute to continue.
The Amir also called for strengthening Gulf unity and transcendence above differences.
During the fourth ordinary session of Kuwait's National Assembly's 15th legislative term, the Amir said it is no longer acceptable or bearable for the dispute that erupted between GCC brethren to continue.
Sheikh Sabah, who has been acting as a mediator to resolve the dispute, said: "Differences must be overcome at the Arab level and the supreme interests of the nation must be placed above all other considerations."
The Amir said the region is witnessing unprecedented difficult circumstances and there are concerns and pain over the escalation and instability in a number of brotherly countries, expressing hope that brothers in these countries enjoy security and prosperity.
Sheikh Sabah reiterated the seriousness of the volatile situation that afflicts the region, and its serious repercussions and effects that are felt and threaten the security, stability and the future of the generations.
"In these delicate circumstances, a lesson from what is happening around the region must be learned and there is no choice but to consolidate the national unity and the cohesion of the society, as well as to renounce the causes of strife and division and incitement," he said, adding that social media has become "one of the most dangerous tools that destroy national unity and harm the reputation of people and their dignity".
The Kuwaiti Amir also said he has called for a serious and urgent action to eradicate this dangerous phenomenon and protect the society from its deadly scourge.
Sheikh Sabah returned to Kuwait on October 16 after medical treatment in the United States.
