His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani arrived in Tokyo on Monday to participate in the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito of Japan. The enthronement will take place at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Tuesday.
Upon arrival at Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), the Amir was received by Special Assistant to the Foreign Minister of Japan Seiichi Otsuka, Secretary-General of Japan-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Association Tadahiko Ito, Ambassador of Qatar to Japan Hassan bin Mohamed Rafi al-Emadi and members of the Qatari embassy.
His Highness the Amir's attendance at the ceremony would further affirm the strong friendship and distinguished relations between Qatar and Japan and the keenness of the two countries to develop and strengthen these relations, QNA said.
This is the second visit of the Amir to Japan this year. He had paid an official visit to Japan in January as part of an Asian tour that also included South Korea and the Republic of China.
The Qatari-Japanese relations are characterised by their historical depth and development, as well as being based on strong friendship, mutual cooperation, respect and trust between the two countries. Over the years, these relations have been characterised by close and fruitful cooperation, and economic exchanges have become the backbone of these relations for more than four decades.
