Ooredoo, the region’s leading enabler of digital business innovation, announced yesterday Qatar’s first Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) infrastructure, under the product series “EDGE”, enabling business customers to securely digitally transform, optimise costs, and enhance network usage.
With the new EDGE SD-WAN product, Ooredoo will replace traditional modems and routers with industry-leading cloud-based SD-WAN technology, it was explained in a statement. Ooredoo EDGE SD-WAN works by using WAN gateways that have application-aware routing, security, and visibility.
Organisations can set their own policies for critical application performance so that gateways can intelligently steer organisations’ traffic over Ooredoo’s fibre and mobile networks. As a result, businesses can securely connect to the Internet, and enable teleworkers and office branches to securely connect to the cloud or their own data centres.
Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi, chief operating officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “As Qatar’s organisations consume more bandwidth than ever before, SD-WAN technology is essential for fuelling the digital transformation for organisations of all sizes and industry verticals. Our launch of EDGE SD-WAN is set to drive a new approach to network connectivity that can deliver business benefits especially across costs and resource.”
The Ooredoo EDGE SD-WAN offering will address industry requirements across all market segments through partnerships with leading vendors, such as Cisco (Meraki and Viptela), VMware (VeloCloud) and Nokia’s Nuage Networks.
Al-Kubaisi added: “Smaller organisations in Qatar are especially set to gain the same level of connectivity solutions as large enterprises. Ooredoo EDGE SD-WAN provides plug-and-play functionality that can expand as businesses grow, and intuitive dashboard management that can allow IT administrators to measure their application network connectivity in real-time.”
Business customers can leverage the Ooredoo Advantage, making Ooredoo “Best for Business”, thanks to its breadth and depth of talent, best fixed and mobile networks, broadest portfolio of ICT services and solutions, and trusted partner for 60 years, the statement added.
