Qatar's Finance Minister HE Ali Sherif al-Emadi has participated in the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC.

The meetings discussed topics relating to developments in the global economy. The finance minister attended several meetings with dignitaries including the US Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, as well as Dr Ibrahim al-Badawi, Sudan’s Minister of Finance, and the Prime Minister of Somalia, Hassan Khairy.

The Qatari delegation held a number of meetings with senior officials of the IMF and the WB Group, in addition to bilateral meetings with international delegates. The meetings addressed financial policies and the latest regional and global economic developments.

The WB-IMF meetings brought together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, parliamentarians, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organisations and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.

Also featured are seminars, regional briefings, press conferences, and many other events focused on the global economy, international development, and the world's financial system.
